For the first time in their much-celebrated career, Boy & Bear will be performing their incredible ‘Harlequin Dream’ album in-full, celebrating 10 years since the ARIA chart-topping, platinum-selling album was first released. Joining Boy & Bear for these very special shows will be the amazing Sarah Blasko (solo). 

Boy & Bear have attained a level of staying power that most artists could only dream of; and all whilst maintaining their authentic vision and driving love for their craft. Achieving early career support from triple j Boy & Bear swiftly catapulted onto the world stage releasing their double-platinum debut album Moonfire in 2011, which went on to snag five coveted ARIA award wins. 

2013’s Harlequin Dream and 2015’s Limit of Love strengthened Boy & Bear’s expansive presence, with both albums charting at #1, and Harlequin Dream marking the group’s second studio album to go Platinum. 

From 2019’s Suck on Light to 2023’s self-titled full length (both top 10 albums), Boy & Bear have continued to evolve and grow, gaining more and more fans from across the globe. Boy & bear announce australia & new zealand tour dates for 2023.

The band will celebrate their new record by touring Australia and New Zealand, supported by Boo Seeka and FELIVAND.

Beloved Australian chart-topping and ARIA-award-winning act Boy & Bear have announced their forthcoming self-titled fifth studio album, Boy & Bear, set to be released independently on May 26. To celebrate, the band will hit the road touring Australia and New Zealand throughout June and July. Catch them when they head to Melbourne for a show on June 16 at Palais Theatre.

Following four ARIA top-10 charted albums, including two number ones, the indie band are following up with a new body of work, self-produced and recorded at Golden Retriever Studios in Marrickville, Sydney, and mixed by Craig Silvey at Toast Studios in London.

Tim Hart, from the band, says the album represents a renewal of positivity, hunger and strength as they regain the opportunity to explore adventurous beginnings and creative turning points after being apart during the pandemic years. The album is the latest evolution in their approach to their songwriting and recording. It has familiar elements for listeners who have been on the journey since the early albums – a sense of rawness and authenticity, highlighted by Hosking’s signature heart-touching lyricism and indie-led melodies – melded with the band’s characteristic blend of pop sensibilities. Simultaneously, it’s a fresh chapter for Boy & Bear, showcasing electronic flourishes and rhythmic elements that were hinted at in their 2019 record, Suck on Light.

“We wanted to make an album of seductive grooves, soaring melodies, modulated ambient textures, and great stories. We worked hard to strike the right balance between vintage and cutting edge, polished and sure, but full of heart and wild touches,” says Dave Symes.

They were fantastic! We were right up front. They played all our favorites too! The venue was intimate and the staff were very kind. The only negative was that we had to stand throughout the entire show including the opening act Coby. We were very satisfied with the quality of the performances!

We would definitely see them again!

Incredible show last night in Richmond, Va. Power went out due to a tornado in the area about 30 minutes into the show, and the band stepped to the front of the stage and played acoustic. One of those supercool moments that doesn't happen too often. It was a really memorable night. I was already a big fan of their music, but the way these guys handled the power outage was truly awesome. If you haven't seen them, definitely go and catch them on their US tour.

It was so wonderful seeing the boys from Boy and Bear on Tuesday night in Kentish Town. Incredible talent, incredible voices. For a moment there they kind of made me miss Australia! Love them so much! x

In support their new album announcement and release, Boy & Bear have announced a run of Australian and New Zealand tour dates with support from indie/electronic act Boo Seeka and fast rising vocalist/producer FELIVAND*. 

Boy & Bear’s previous four albums have all gone top 10 on the ARIA charts, with two of them taking out the number 1 slot (Harlequin Dream, Limit of Love), their debut album Moonfire coming in at number 2, and Suck On Light coming in at number 7. 

In 2022, off the back of the ‘State of Flight’ single, Boy & Bear performed their first Australian headline tour in almost 3 years. They sold over 14,000 tickets. This was followed by second single ‘Just To Be Kind’ and performances to tens of thousands of people with Crowded House as well as being involved in a high-profile whisky campaign alongside Matthew McConaughey.

Australian music has never been more ready for Boy & Bear; there hasn’t been a more perfect time for their charismatic and uniquely warm and enveloping presence to return.
